project scoping communication non-disclosure agreement (intellectual property law)The Level UP program (powered by Riipen) allows employers to bring on Canadian post-secondary students for 80-hour paid projects. Students are paid a $1400 CAD stipend on completion of the project by Riipen. Employers are not required to provide payment.
Submit a project here for our Level UP coordinators to review. Once approved, students are not guaranteed yet, but they will apply to your project directly - individually, or in teams. Students may be from any Canadian post-secondary institution, and in any academic program. Get specific in your project description about the skills you're looking for in order to attract the most suitable applicants.
We are now closed for project submissions. Employers are encouraged to join the waitlist here.
Student applications are now closed. Students can join the waitlist here.
Current students will be able to apply to projects until midnight EST on February 17.
All projects must be completed by March 31, 2022.
While deliverables will vary depending on the project scope, at the conclusion of the project you should have a completed report or other assets that you can use to further your business goals. Maintaining communication with students throughout the project will lead to better results.
Note: If students are completing confidential work that you do not want shared through Riipen, you can create and sign off on a time sheet for the student. In this case, we might also recommend that you have the student(s) sign an NDA before starting your project.
If you have questions or need help making sure that your project is appealing to students, please email us at levelup@riipen.com.

Project Examples
Projects should be approximately 80 hours in length. Here are some guidelines to follow:
- Given the short, remote nature of Level UP, we require a project-based experience. If your project looks like a job posting, we can not accept it. Please provide a concrete scope for the studentโs work and limit their work to a single project.
- If you choose to use a template from our library, ensure that you have added as much context for your business needs as possible. Our team will not accept any projects that were created from a template without sufficient customization. While students will interact with you to complete the project, we want them to be able to understand the scope of the project by reading your project details. This will also help to ensure that you have the right students applying to your projects!
Note: Once we accept a project, this does not guarantee that students will apply to your project. Supply of Level UP stipends is limited, and the program ends on March 31, 2022.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Define the project scope up front to the best of your abilities, limiting scope changes once students are approved for the project.
I understand that employers must provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to the student(s) they accept to work on their projects. I must be responsive to any questions, and check in on progress to help ensure a good result. The Level UP program require that students receive at least 5 hours of mentorship throughout the project.
Be available for a discussion with the Level UP coordinator to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope in an appropriate fit for the internship.
I understand that as the employer, I must make a good faith effort to ensure that the number of students accepted per project still allows each participant 80 hours of experience. If more than 80 hours of work is required, the student will not be able to complete the project under this program. Upon completion of the project, I will confirm with the Level UP team that the student has completed 80 hours of work.
I understand that employers may not accept more than 5 students per project during the period from October 2021 to March 2022.
I understand that employers must complete the Level UP program exit survey at the conclusion of the project.
Employers must acknowledge that the stipend can only be granted to eligible students, and that all participating students must come through the Riipen platform under the Level UP program page, and cannot be invited directly by the employer.
I understand that supply of Level UP stipends is limited and that Riipen can only help me match with a project while supplies last.
I understand that all projects must be completed by March 31, 2022.
