Bring on students from Saskatchewan Polytechnic to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students in this program/course study and employ practical and theoretical concepts obtained in first year systems analysis and design courses by building an IT system. They will work as part of a development team on an IT problem for an external industry client. Their project will include the production and demonstration of functioning components of the system each release within deadlines set out in their project management documentation
Deliverables are negotiable and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations
- The complete source repository and software/application deliverable.
This course will run for two semesters (September 2022- April 2023). When considering this course, please note that there is phase I and phase II. You would be agreeing to match with both courses for the full duration of the project. Students will increase their coursework and hours during the second phase of the project, so please expect more than the allotted 48 hours of work for each student over the course of both semesters.

Project Examples
Students in groups of 5-8 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Adopt project processes in a team environment for an IT development project
- Formulate project requirements for IT development project
- Generate requirements documents, unit test results, acceptance test results, and analysis and design models for IT development project
- Create design models and analysis models for changing requirements for IT development projects.
- Create a software implementation of a project design for an IT development project.
- Create user manual and installation manual for IT development project.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Are you available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course?
Will you be able to provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly(4 hours minimum per week) drop-ins/Zoom to address studentsโ questions, join the team's bi-weekly demo meeting as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project?
Will you be able to provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback?
Will you be able to provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
