We want to better understand our target market and audience as well as the overall market so we can uniquely position ourselves within our industry locally, nationally and of course globally.

The research will include:

  • Target market research
  • Industry size and market potential
  • Competitive landscape
  • Strategic positioning of our brand
  • Economic sector research

A New DAEI is owned by a Black woman (she/her) and would like to see how the overall market houses the cultural dance sector, specifically Black arts such as African, Caribbean and various street styles. We must also determine, in comparison to our US counterparts, what the revenue sectors look like for our academy.

Deliverables

We hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of how we can better serve our customers. We would like recommendations on how to improve our positioning, brand, and products and services.

A New DAEI is looking for students who can

  • Gather data on geographical demographics related to our business (ex. census of population locally, nationally and if this translates to number or participants in arts). Local, national and global data required
  • Dance studio share in the sectors of wellness, health economies
  • Revenues pertaining to for-profit and not-for-profit dance studios/academies/organizations
  • Data related to dance and dance arts in Canada vs the US.
  • Data on Black arts in Canada would be helpful (ex. Market share, Fiscal year Revenues in comparison to competitors)
Mentorship

Students will work closely with the primary project manager who is supervising and available for questions. This will also include occasional progress meetings where adjustments to the students' tasks and duties can be made if necessary.

A New DAEI's director or administrator will

  • Meet weekly with students virtually to connect on completed and upcoming project items
  • Offer guidance on direction of research
  • Obtain feedback throughout the process and implement any necessary changes throughout the project
