Food Safety Documentation Project

The purpose of this project is to assist with helping a small business owner research and gather information on food safety as it relates to food production on a specific type of product.

The end purpose will be to help create content for a food safety focused website.

We are looking for students in Food Science/Food safety, who have some knowledge of microbiology and quality assurance methods as would have typically been obtained through a co-op placement.

Preference will be given to students of food science.

Deliverables

The student(s) will be responsible for helping to source and review reference materials from scientific journals, government websites, international food safety and food standard organizations. They will then assist in synthesizing this information and drafting at least ten β€˜best practice’ documents, as well as pulling together some food safety case studies for presentations. The students will also help with document organization, filing, formatting, and proofing documents prior to finalization.

The student(s) may also be asked to review short courses and videos, create diagrams, flow charts, and excel databases, and assist with some social media related activities such as creating short posts about food safety for some social media platforms (Instagram, linked in).

Outputs- summaries of technical documents of a quality that can be posted online.

LinkedIn Social Media posts- number to be determined based on student background.
