I'm looking to hire and train a part-time co-op student to work in academic editing. I'll provide you with materials to learn about copyediting, structural editing, and stylistic editing, and I'll train you using examples of academic writing in the health sciences, humanities, social sciences, and education. You'll learn tools and techniques to help you to make writing more clear, efficient, and persuasive. You'll also get really good at formatting using APA 7th edition!
In addition to editing work, I may also ask you to be involved in developing training materials, performing market research, updating a blog, doing some administration, and drafting copy.
This role will involve an extensive training period. Expect to do a lot of reading, writing, and summarizing during the training period.
Qualifications:

- comfortable working independently
- willingness to learn
- open to giving and receiving feedback
- interest in entrepreneurship or running a small business an asset
- experience editing is an asset but is not required

Hours of work: 20 hours per week: 8 hours on Fridays, throughout the eight month work term, with the remaining 12 hours scheduled in conversation with your supervisor.
Project G: provide editing support for long articles in an academic journal related to social work, higher education, and inclusivity.
Weekly virtual meetings through Zoom. Detailed, comprehensive feedback on editing work through Microsoft Word. Mentorship in running a small business.
