Project Description: Business Plan for Developing an Integrated Security Company

Welcome to Pulp! We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for talented MRU Business students to contribute to our innovative project, Business Plan for Developing an Integrated Security Company.

Main Goal:

The primary objective of this project is to develop a business plan and go-to-market strategy for an Integrated Security Company.

Pulp ltd. is a holding company, with Pulp Shred Ltd. as the operating company under it. Pulp Shred is in the business of providing Information Destruction services to both businesses and residents in the Calgary Region. Our main target profile in the commercial space is the SMB market.

Small and medium businesses account for almost 99% of total businesses in Alberta and Canada. We believe the SMB market is the most vulnerable to security breaches, however. The majority of cybersecurity providers focus on the enterprises and therefore the solutions are inaccessible and unaffordable to most. Additionally, there's a lot of confusion around cybersecurity as its been promoted as too onerous and techy, thereby scaring most of the small business owners. It seems to be the new Wild Wild West of Business!

At Pulp, our vision is to democratize the cybersecurity space and make it Affordable, Accessible, and Achievable for the SMBs. We aim to broaden our service scope to become a fully integrated security company, starting with Information Security (i.e., cloud security, cyber security, plus our existing information destruction services).

We envision this strategy to unfold in multiple phases, with the initial phases focused on developing strategic partnerships with global leaders in cybersecurity and reselling their solutions. The goal is to become a Managed Security Services Company in 2-3 years. Eventually this model will include physical/guarding security services as well.

Current status: we have stitched a number of partnerships with some of the major global providers and are in talks with more.

We want students to not only understand the significance of their contributions but also feel confident that the project is manageable within a realistic timeframe from September 20, 2024 - December 10, 2024.
