Details

The main objective of this project is to develop a web application that streamlines the grant application process. By the end of the project, students are expected to have developed a functional web application MVP. The application should provide a user-friendly interface for managing grant applications.

With experience in cloud hosting on AWS


Required Skills:

Frontend:

Proficiency in frontend development using React.js.

Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Experience with frontend frameworks and libraries (e.g., Redux, Material-UI).

Knowledge of responsive design principles.

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).


Backend:

Proficiency in backend development using Node.js or another relevant backend language (e.g., Python, Ruby).

Experience with backend frameworks (e.g., Express.js, Flask, Ruby on Rails).

Knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.

Understanding of database management systems (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL).

Ability to work with cloud services for deployment and scaling.


Cloud Hosting (AWS):

Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.

Knowledge of AWS deployment best practices.

Understanding of networking concepts in AWS (e.g., VPC, Route 53).

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools in AWS (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail).

  • Ability to optimize AWS resources for cost and performance.


Mentorship

To support students in completing the project, we will provide the following resources and mentorship:


1. **Staff Time**: Experienced mentors will be available to guide students throughout the project. They will provide technical assistance, feedback on project milestones, and help troubleshoot any issues that arise.


2. **Access to Tools and Technology**: Students will have access to the necessary development tools and technologies required for the project. This includes access to frontend and backend frameworks, cloud hosting services, and any other tools needed for development.


3. **Access to Data**: If applicable, students will be provided with sample data or access to relevant datasets to use in their project. This will help them develop and test their applications more effectively.


4. **Regular Check-ins and Progress Updates**: Mentors will schedule regular check-in meetings with students to review their progress, provide feedback, and address any challenges they may be facing. This will help keep students on track and motivated throughout the project.
