The scope is also flexible. We're happy to work with the student and institution to tailor an appropriate experience.
Our psychotherapy practice specializes in men’s mental health and is committed to advancing clinical counselling and psychotherapy research in this area. As we expand our team of therapists and continue to serve as a Yorkville University-approved practicum site for MA in Counselling Psychology students, we aim to contribute to the field through trade magazine articles and academic literature reviews.
We would like to collaborate with students to support our research and publication efforts by categorizing relevant studies, summarizing key findings, and assisting in drafting articles and literature reviews. This will help us build a strong foundation of research that informs clinical practice while bolstering our reputation as a leader in men’s mental health. Students may appear as co-authors on articles to which they have made a substantial contribution.
Student Responsibilities:
Students involved in this project will:
- Familiarize themselves with our practice’s therapeutic approaches and the key issues in men’s mental health.
- Conduct literature searches on relevant topics in clinical counselling and psychotherapy for men.
- Apply a categorization framework to organize research findings.
- Summarize key takeaways from existing studies for use in trade publications and academic articles.
- Assist in drafting literature reviews and articles for trade magazines, supporting therapists in their writing efforts.
Bonus Opportunities:
- Collaborate with therapists to co-author publications.
- Gain experience in academic writing and trade journalism related to psychotherapy.
- Contribute to the development of research-based resources for mental health practitioners.
- This project offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in meaningful research that directly impacts the clinical practice of psychotherapy for men, while also gaining hands-on experience in academic and trade publication processes.
