Details

The project involves conducting a comprehensive feasibility study for establishing a commercial geothermal greenhouse in northern New Brunswick. The primary goal is to evaluate the potential for utilizing geothermal energy to support sustainable agriculture in the region. Learners will assess the geology and geography to identify a suitable site for the greenhouse. They will analyze the types and costs of materials required for construction, considering both environmental and economic factors. Additionally, the project will involve evaluating the labor needs, distinguishing between skilled and unskilled labor necessary for the construction phase. The team will also research and recommend plant species that align with the regional food requirements, ensuring the greenhouse can contribute effectively to local food security. Finally, learners will compile an overall cost analysis of the project, providing a clear financial outlook for stakeholders.

Deliverables

The deliverables for this project include a detailed feasibility report that encompasses several key components. The report will feature an analysis of the geological and geographical factors influencing site selection. It will also include a comprehensive breakdown of material types and associated costs for constructing the greenhouse. Additionally, the report will outline the labor requirements, specifying the roles of skilled and unskilled workers. Recommendations for plant species suitable for the region's food needs will be provided, along with a thorough cost analysis of the entire project.
