Research Project: Predictive Analytics and AI for Truck Dispatching

Project ScopeWe are looking for market research support to inform us if technology/AI is the right step forward for our trucking dispatch operations. The project is expected to last 2-3 months with a final deliverable in the potential form of a report and presentation at the end. ContextThis is the research phase of a potential multi-year initiative. Canadian Pacific has a very significant annual expenditure for trucking services for Intermodal container shipments, but optimizing these movements is a complex activity for humans. We want to better understand if there is existing technology/AI that can help us navigate these complexities and deliver trucking operations more efficiently. If so, would it even be a good fit for CP's trucking dispatch operations? We would like a group of consultants to help us answer the follow questions: What is the maturity level and capabilities of the technology?Who are vendors? Have early adopters outsourced, or built in-house?What would be the estimated cost, resource requirements, and timeline to implement?What expense and service benefits would such a project likely generate?Does the high-level cost/benefit support further investigation?Skills & Qualifications Market research, strong business acumen, some technical orientation and knowledge of technology/AI Confidentiality RequirementsCP takes confidentiality seriously. As this is a research project, the sharing of information and data with students may be expected. Both the professor and students are required to sign a confidentiality agreement (see Files section) prior to starting the project.
