Rural Hospital Care Delivery Analysis

Background Rural hospitals have been facing significant financial health challenges, which have implications for delivering care to the local community and offering care closer to home. 114 rural hospitals stopped offering inpatient services or ceased operation altogether between 2010-2019. In many cases, rural hospitals stopped offering specialty services which led to patients having to travel to urban areas to receive care. With narrow and negative operating margins, it is imperative that these hospitals optimize the delivery of care to their local communities. What we offer As a startup tech company, we offer innovative Telepresence solutions in healthcare to bring care close to home and remote geographic barriers to receiving healthcare. We aim to bring primary and emergency healthcare services to rural and remote areas using simple and affordable smart glasses software solutions to give community nurses and general practitioners access to real-time over-the-shoulder expert and specialist advice using augmented reality and artificial intelligence. Building capacity and expanding expertise. Project goal Using Healthcare Cost Report Information System (HCRIS) and other data sources, we are looking to analyze rural hospital revenue streams and billing practices to identify where our technology can be implemented to improve efficiency (cost-saving) and expand capacity and service offerings (increase revenue).

Digital Workflow Solution on Smart Glasses

What Are We Building FlowVU, is our next-generation digital workflow solution for health care practitioners which runs on smart glasses. Using FlowVU, a user will be able to load a workflow, and follow along using voice commands. Why Are We Building It The delivery of medicine is extremely complex, often involving multi step decision trees. Some situations are rarely encountered and critical to know what to do if encountered. Furthermore, with the advent of evidence-based medicine, practice guidelines are often quickly evolving over time. We need to digitize these workflows to ensure adherence to the latest guidelines, remove the burden of memorization, and make sure clinicians never miss a step. Who Are We Building It For Frontline healthcare professionals require easy access to vital information such as checklists, workflows, guidelines and decision trees to be able to safely and efficiently treat patients. FlowVU will allow the nurse, physician or paramedic access such information through Smart Glasses's AR screen providing a safe, hands-free tool to care for their patients. Technical Requirements The solution will run on Android-based smart glasses, namely the Vuzix M4Series, Realwear HMT-1 & Google EE2. The solution will be able to take as input a PowerPoint presentation and translate each slide into a step. The solution will allow logic to be applied to transformed slides. The steps can then be connected to each other using conditional if-then logic. The solution will have a web portal that allows workflows to be uploaded and for logic to be built using simple drag and drop blocks The solution can run offline on the smart glasses after the workflow of interest is downloaded The solution will save the path taken through the decision tree, along with the date and time The solution will allow the user to go back a step if required The solution will make it easy to navigate quickly between steps The solution will support both yes and no logic, and multiple-choice logic (a, b, c, d) The solution will keep track of completion of steps by each user
