Are you a startup company that needs help with strategic development, customer discovery, or ideas for the next steps? Startup organizations have a unique set of risks and advantages, which informed business owners know how to leverage; staying lean and nimble is key in achieving startup success.

In this project, students working in teams will apply their knowledge of lean startup methodologies and business strategy to recommend strategic changes that will accelerate your organizational growth and reactivity.

  • A 15-20-minute presentation and a short report on recommendations focused on the defined topic.

Project Examples

Based on a mix of internal factors such as your products and services, operational practices, budget, and business goals, and external factors such as the state of the industry, student teams will provide you with an analysis of your current situation, competitive positioning, or product development cycle and recommend changes to optimize your business strategy.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing your product development cycle including learning processes, customer discovery, hypothesis testing, and other internal processes to suggest improvements.
  • Analyzing the competitive environment in your industry.
  • Creating a Business Model Canvas for an existing or potential business and outlining strategic changes to your organization’s value proposition.
  • Optimizing business processes and strategies.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Assess and judge the "top" student project and provide a letter of recommendation or LinkedIn recommendation for each student in the top student group. (Student chooses LinkedIn or letter)

Attend a kickoff class online meeting to tell students about your company and your goals for the project before the first millstone (second or third week).

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions (The best is to be able to attend a weekly/bi-weekly office hour with the students about 20 min per team)

Available to attend the students’ marketing plan online presentation during the final week of the course as well as to provide feedback to the instructor and students.
