In the final capstone project of the program, students will spend eight (8) weeks to find and apply data-driven insights to address an HR-related problem your organization may be facing.
Students
The final deliverables include:
- Business Case: Students will prepare a business case that outlines the justification of why your project will help the organization realize value
- Project Plan: Students will construct a project plan detailing sufficient information to allow you to effectively plan and share the plan with stakeholders
- Requirements / User Story Inventory: Students will document an inventory of prioritized stakeholder requirements and/or user stories that enabled your project
- Data Acquisition Strategy: Students will articulate your data acquisition strategy and key considerations for obtaining and protecting the data required for your project
- Data Analysis / Model Development: Students will evaluate obtained data and demonstrate approach for analysis
- Insights Generation: Students will demonstrate key insights from data analysis in a visual format
- Final Presentation: Design a summarized presentation to discuss key insights with your project steering committee / leadership

Requirements
Your organization will need to provide relevant datasets*, background information, and a high-level business question, opportunity, or challenge. Although it is the responsibility of the students to develop an appropriate analytical solution to the business problem you provide, it would be helpful if you select a business question, opportunity, or challenge that can be resolved through people analytics (to the best of your knowledge).
Examples of workforce solutions that students could develop through people analytics include but are not limited to:
- Reducing the cost per hire
- Improving candidate selection
- Raising employee retention rate
- Improving employee engagement
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Commit to providing a dedicated contact to meet with students at the indicated milestone check-in dates.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
