PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET:

Three years into leading Pitch It Green, our founder through consultation with community organizations, have come to the conclusion that there are silos with sustainability organizations across Canada, and there isn’t a centralized hub to gain access to the collective of information sustainability organizations have worked on. Youth are keen to learn more and need this type of knowledge to understand and embrace sustainability in their lives.

For that reason, we want to create The Resource Hub a place where we provide all that necessary information in one place where anyone can easily access it, in order to learn and become motivated toward meaningful action. Our Resource Hub seeks to address the issues of the linear take-make-waste business approach, lack of support for small businesses (especially during the pandemic), and greenwashing, as well as issues of justice, equity, decolonization, and inclusion.

KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET:

We are planning the execution of three activities that will aid us in achieving our vision.

  • The first activity involves outreach to youth-led sustainability organizations nationwide, in order to develop content and share other resources with one another. This activity will also involve contacting web developers and graphic designers in our community to build the back-end of the resource hub, as well as team meetings to plan and track progress.
  • The second activity will have us collecting content from youth sustainability leaders from partner organizations and posting it on the resource hub.
  • The third activity will involve the promotion of our launch on social media, with an official launch date of mid-November, and continuing to engage with youth in our network.

IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:*

  • Assisting with the creation of the online resource hub
  • Researching organizations and small businesses that are working towards sustainability
  • Writing content for a variety of our platforms (i.e. blog, social media, research projects)
  • Reach out to organizations to collaborate on insights for the environmental issues and business opportunities project
  • Developing a framework for selecting small business partners

FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET:

- With the help of VFC students, we know we are going to be capable of launching the Resource Hub on our website by December 2021- January 2022

- We hope to reach 1000+ website visits per month, 200+ views on any videos, and have 100+ accounts created in our Resource Hub

- We expect to engage 2000 youth across what is known as Canada indirectly, including high school and post-secondary students, young professionals, and youth activists.
