The Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response (OSVPER) is seeking 1-2 student(s) to develop content and create a social media strategy for OSVPER’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter). We use social media to raise awareness and promote ongoing learning about sexual violence and related issues, promote our programs and services and to situate OSVPER as part of a local, provincial, and national community addressing sexual violence.
The project entails:
- Creating engaging content for posts (including graphics and written content),
- Using Canva to create engaging and relevant posts
- Creating a content calendar
- Following OSVPER’s social media guidelines
- Researching relevant days/weeks/months and initiatives relating to sexual violence awareness and identifying opportunities for social media engagement
- Researching effective social media strategies for sexual violence awareness
- Creating a 1-2 page document with effective social media strategies, tips and tricks, and campaign/project ideas for future OSVPER student volunteers
Social media posts created in this project will be used throughout the summer and into the 2021-22 academic year to promote a culture of consent at MacEwan University. Students applying for this opportunity must be familiar with Canva and have access to a computer. Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is required. Previous education or training relating to sexual violence is an asset.
Students will be supervised by OSVPER's two full-time staff members, Roxanne Runyon (Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator) and Meagan Simon (Sexual Violence Response Coordinator).
Students will receive a comprehensive orientation to OSVPER's programs and services and the position expectations. We will work with the student(s) to establish a plan for ongoing supervision and mentorship that includes weekly check-in meetings.
