Challenge Outline: How to get more businesses to sign up to wellbeing support? One of the challenges we are facing is that since the pandemic businesses are aware of the need to have something for wellbeing. There is lots of research about how being preventative rather than reactive is better and more cost effective, but yet businesses are still reluctant to sign up. There are still sceptical senior leaders who don't see the value in having support for the team, the individuals and how this impacts on productivity. Key aims/objectives: 1. How can we pitch wellbeing support to companies so that it taps into their pain points (staff retention, presenteeism, productivity, performance)? 2. How do we get more businesses onto our website and social media (we currently get most business through word of mouth)?
Gamification to improve individual's wellbeing
We have identified 3 types of people: those who are good with wellbeing, those who are ok but not consistent and those who don't do much to help improve their wellbeing. We are targeting the last group with a view of improving their wellbeing in a natural way without telling them what they already know (exercise eat healthy etc). We would like to find out: 1. if there are any similar organisations that engage with this specific group via games; and if so, please summarise the positives and negatives of their games, and make recommendations 2. looking more broadly at leading wellbeing games (e.g. online or in the app store), are there any common themes that lead to their success? Please summarise some positives and negatives of their games, and make recommendations 3. as university students, if you could create a game to help you with habits and improving your wellbeing, what would you include? 4. how do other similar organisations target this specific group more broadly (please look at existing company websites and information rather than conduct primary research due to time restraints) Due to time restraints, please do not conduct primary research or surveys. Using your critical-thinking and research skills, students should review existing literature, research, and data to make recommendations.
How can companies best support working parents?
Within the current climate of school strikes, it is even more difficult for working parents to balance work and home life. I would love to know what companies are doing to support parents (flexible working, paid carer days, childcare, parenting support etc.)
