writing research analysisStudents in Digital Authoring Practicum are digital storytellers––capable of editing, writing, and composing persuasive digital content. They know practices such as podcasting, media-rich instructional writing, and social media reels. Organizations can benefit by working with these storytellers because they can amplify campaigns, events, and internal communications and writing.
Students
TBD by the employer. Students are familiar with file formats (video, PDF, WAV).
These experiences will help students meet the following outcomes:
- Apply rhetorical theory to the practice of digital writing in both classroom and community contexts
- Understand contemporary, professional, and ethical issues in digital writing
- Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to produce deliverables in a variety of media and genres
- Apply for positions in digital and professional writing, with traditional job materials and online platforms

Requirements
Past projects have included:
A guide for social media best practices (specific to a company)
60-second Instagram reels on editing tips, interview excerpts
Designing and editing a digital magazine
Poster designs for explaining complex research findings
Interviewing and transcription writing for a podcast
Blogging about music, games, and more
Creating video reviews of software and publishing to YouTube
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated student supervisor who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course. Depending on the project, a placement agreement might need to be signed with the Experiential Education Office prior to the student(s) starting their projects/placement.
Partners agree to sign a placement agreement with the Faculty prior to the student starting placement (sent by the EE Coordinator once a student placement is confirmed)
