Work alongside the communications team to create effective communication strategies and tools for AHC and affiliates. Create content for social media and print, including infographics, event posters, and photos that can reach and effectively communicate to a multitude of audiences. Plan events for community engagement alongside other staff members. Engagement events will include public consultations, workshops, signature collection for referendums and community meals. Create and manage relationships with community organizations, respond to partnership and collaboration opportunities, and provide consistent updates and information to these organizations. Plan and help run community engagement opportunities, such as interviews, workshops, and consultations using a cultural competency framework. Reach out to York students regarding referendum (campaigning)

HOUSE is a federally incorporated non-profit dedicated to research, advocacy, and development of affordable housing for post-secondary students and young people. Our goal is to create quality, community-oriented and perpetually affordable housing that is by and for the communities we serve. HOUSE works with partners in the housing sector, post-secondary institutions, student unions and government to accomplish this. HOUSE is a member-owned and controlled organization, made up of local self-governing affordable housing committees (such as the York University Affordable Housing Committee), mission-aligned organizations and student union locals. We are creating housing by community, for the community. HOUSE has a progressive workplace culture that provides flexibility and makes staff well-being a priority, while balancing these with accomplishing the mission of the organization and holding ourselves accountable for our areas of responsibility.
Architectural Assistant - HOUSE Ontario
The Architectural Assistant will be responsible for planning, developing, and creating architectural designs for the various projects HOUSE is working on across Ontario. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Architectural Assistant will: Create artistic renderings of the exterior and interior of a proposed residential building, units, and common facilities. Use design software such as Sketchup to create housing designs that reflect the community that will be living in them, zoning and official plan by-laws/standards, and create opportunities for community cooperation. Examine and report on development plans and/or developer proposals based on community-based and/or site-specific needs. Present designs to HOUSE team members and during community engagement sessions. Provide materials that can be disseminated to stakeholders to review designs prior to meetings. Receive feedback from community, HOUSE team members, and other stakeholders and revise architectural designs as needed.

HOUSE Canada - Grant + Technical writer
We believe this project will include: Identify granting bodies and maintain a positive relationship with their institutions. Have a clear understanding of HOUSE and its affiliates’ histories, missions, and goals in order to adequately identify and apply to funding opportunities that reflect the organizations’ needs. Work alongside the executive team to identify funding goals and opportunities. Writing and submitting grant applications with a high degree of language proficiency. Maintaining a grants database that clearly identifies grants that will be applied to, are in the process of being written, and have been submitted. The database should also indicate funding that was granted and applications that were not accepted. Receive feedback from granting bodies if applications are not accepted. Apply feedback in future grant applications for ongoing improvement and skills development if necessary
